10 Things You Didn’t Know About Pitso Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane is one of the best coaches in South Africa. However, not a lot of people know much about his playing career; Where he started until he got to the point he that he is now today.

Here are a few facts you did not know about Mosimane’s playing days!

1. In 1985 he become the most expensive player in South Africa,

2. He was signed by Mamelodi Sundowns. Talk about loyalty, who would have thought that a few years down the line he would be making some of the most expensive deals for Sundowns himself.

3. Pitso made waves in Greece, when he won the Greek second division trophy  with Lonikos in 1994/1995 football season.

4. He also made his Bafana Bafana debut agaisnt Mauritius in 1993.

5. Pitso was a talented striker that was signed by Jomo Cosmos by the age of 18.

6. He may only have one league title to boast about but Mosimane has scored 11 goals in 14 matches in 1987. Up until this day, many top strikers in South Africa still fail to reach double the figures for their club.

7. On 15 July 2010, Mosimane was named as the new head coach of South Africa

8. He served as the care-taker coach of South Africa for seven games during 2007

9. He won his first game in charge in a 1–0 win over World Cup Quarter Finalists Ghana.

10. He is one of the longest serving and highly rated coaches in South African soccer, having won several major trophies with SuperSport United between 2001 and 2007.
