5 Debuts In Soweto Derby This Passed Weekend

Every player or coach in South Africa perhaps has a dream to play in the Soweto derby. It is a dream some players have achieved very well like Siphiwe Tshabalala who was more derby appearances this weekend for Kaizer Chiefs this passed weekend. However, there were new players who had a first taste of the hot game and they had a great run. Not only was it players but a coach as well. Here is the list below.

Joseph Molongoane celebrates his goal against Orlando Pirates
  1. Joseph Molongoane, had his first derby this weekend and he marked it with a goal in the first half of the game. Molongoane the former Chippa United man joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2016. He had 8/10 player rating for his performance in the Soweto derby.
  2. Dove Wome is also one player for Orlando Pirates who troubled Itumeleng Khune with his powerful strikes. The Supersport United man on loan to Orlando Pirates has been scoring great goals for sea robbers in the last two games but didn’t score this weekend on his first Soweto derby debut.
  3. Thembinkosi Lorch, is another Orlando Pirates player who caused Tshepo Masilela to score an own goal. Lorch was very influential in the front line for Bucs with great runs and crosses to the box. He had a great derby debut.
  4. Gustavo Paez, had a great run in his first Soweto derby but he was silenced by Ayanda Gcaba.
  5. Jonevret Kjell, the new Bucs coach had his first derby this weekend and his game plan gave Bucs a draw. Bucs played transitional football and catching Chiefs on the counter.
