Sevilla Defeat Juventus in UEFA Europa League Semi-Finals! The Spaniards got the better of their Italian opponents.

Sevilla defeated Juventus 2-1 in the UEFA Europa League last night. They will now play in their seventh final in this competition.

The visitors opened the scoring in the second half when substitute Dusan Vlahovic chipped the goalkeeper. Sevilla substitute Suso scored from range just six minutes later, to send the match into extra time.

Erika Lamela headed in the winner for the hosts in the first half of extra time, to seal a spot in Budapest for the final.

“Our aim was to do our best in this competition and everything is going well: we have eliminated two great teams like Manchester United and Juve and we will present ourselves in Budapest against another great team and another great coach,” Sevilla head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar told UEFA.

“People did not expect we would do something like this, and we have achieved it. We have played very good games, especially at home, and we are deservedly in the final.” He added.

“I know Juventus well – they are a strong team, as Manchester United were [in the semi-finals],” goal scorer Suso spoke.

“We are happy with the performance and with reaching the final. Roma has a team built as Mourinho wants; he is a great coach and knows how to play these games.

“Now we have to think about the final league games and then we will think about the final.” The midfielder added.

“The team did what they had to do. The details make the difference. I just have to thank the guys for everything they did, and I feel sorry for them.” Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri added.
