Zlatan Ibrahimovich Statue Vandalised & Broken Again

The statue of Zlatan Ibrahimovic erected in his home city has been attacked again and almost completely removed from its plinth outside Malmo Stadium in Sweden after vandals sawed it off at the ankles.

The statue has been the target of numerous attacks since the Swedish footballer invested in Stockholm-based Hammarby, angering supporters of Malmo FF, the club where he began his career.

Ibrahimovic made his name at Malmo FF before going on to a trophy-laden career in Netherlands, Italy, Spain, England, France and the U.S.

The nose of the statue was cut off in a pre-Christmas attack but the vandalism this weekend was the most severe yet.

Only the two feet were left on the plinth and the rest of the body was left leaning over a security fence erected to protect it, connected only by a supporting pole in the right leg.

In November, a day after his investment in Hammarby, Ibrahimovic filed a “hate crime” complaint after the statue was attacked with fire and paint and the word “Judas” daubed across the front door of his Stockholm home.

Ibrahimovic, 38, is set to make his debut for former club AC Milan in Serie A on Monday after signing a six-month contract with the former European champions last week when AC Milan take on Sampdoria at the San Siro stadium.
