Ex-Footballers that turned out to be great businessmen

Footballers take different paths in their post playing careers. Some go into coaching while some follow other professions. For those with good management skills running successful businesses and organisations is a possibility.

Irvin Khoza is one former footballer to be successful on the business front. Involved with Pirates and PSL Khoza boasts of several businesses. At one time a director of 20 companies Khoza has shown great business acumen over the years.

Kaizer Motaung, owner of Kaizer Chiefs is another top former footballer to leave an indelible mark on the business front. Apart from his involvement at Kaizer Chiefs, Motaung has also served as a director on the boards of many other companies such as Royal Beechnut, Simba, New Age Beverages and Get Ahead.


Apart from running his club Jomo Cosmos, ex-Pirates player Jomo Sono has also been a successful business person.
