Is Steve Khompela just a big talker?

Some have labelled Steve Khompela as a coach of big words lacking the requisite credentials and tactical shrewdness to lead a club as big as Kaizer Chiefs. Since taking over at Amakhosi results have at times proven to be elusive with consistency proving a major worry for the clubs legion of faithfuls.

Debate over whether George Maluleka should start for Chiefs and whether Sipiwe Tshabalala still deserves to be in the starting eleven have all but added pressure on Khompela to perform.

Encouraging would be Chiefs ability to overcome title chasers Bidvest Wits just before the holiday break, but Saturday presents yet another challenge for Khompela who is seeking to prove his critics wrong when Kaizer Chiefs lock horns with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Victory would take Kaizer Chiefs points tally to 24 allowing them to stay within reach of the two front runners, yet defeat would see them fall 8 points off the pace, spelling disaster for the glamour boys.

Whatever the case maybe, this weekend will be surely critical for Khompela who is hoping to silence his critics who are of the belief the Amakhosi gaffer is just nothing but a big talker.
