Is Bongani Zungu South Africa’s next big talent?

Bongani Zungu has dominated the South African media space in recent weeks, with the midfielder having been under radar of several European teams.

The Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns man will now be heading for Portugal after signing a pre-contract agreement with  Vitória de Guimarães for next season.

Zungu will however only move to Portugal at the end of the season and will complete the 2015/16 campaign with Masandawana. The move by Zungu ends months of speculation after Sundowns player had been linked to several clubs.

Steve Kapeluschnik, the player’s representative, confirmed that the South African international has signed a two-year contract in Portugal that will begin at the start of next season, and that the player will join up with his club at the end of this season.

Zungu is not the first South African player to play in Portugal after Benni McCarthy turned out for FC Porto before moving to England.

With so much talk about the Bafana Bafana midfielders talent and with the exposure the midfielder is set to get in Portugal many South African fans will now be wondering whether Zungu could be South Africa’s next great talent.
