Gavin Hunt Happy to Beat Difficult Maritzburg United! Matsatsantsa beat The Team of Choice in their last outing.

SuperSport United beat Maritzburg United 2-1 in the DSTV Premiership on Friday night. Head coach Gavin Hunt was very happy to grab all three points against his opposition.

Matsatsantsa was able to make the most of their chances in a game where there were plenty of opportunities for both sides. The visitors took the lead through defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

However, less than a minute later Lucky Baloyi grabbed an equalizer. Veteran Onismor Bhasera scored the winner to claim victory for the visitors.

“Ja look it’s a difficult place, we were up against it here. I think in the first half it was 20 fouls against us before we could even get a foul, so it wasn’t easy,” Hunt told SuperSport TV after the win.

“This pitch is for really difficult conditions, but I we grind, and we battled. And that’s all you can do, put a little determination into the team and the players are responding.

“All credit to the players, they were brilliant.

“Ja look, I’m asking him [Onismor Bhasera] to play in a position he’s not comfortable playing in, but look I said, “Bash, you must be 45 now,” I don’t know how old he is, but he’s been unbelievable. He was player of the year last year for the club.

“So, credit to the players, but we weren’t at our best tonight. We couldn’t get the ball, we kept giving it away, and they pressure you.

“They are a big, powerful side. But all in all, I thought we created some good opportunities.

“They had two chances in the first half, they could have scored. We had four or five, but the ball is going across the box, and we don’t get the movement patterns which we work on a daily basis.

“Not many teams come here and win here, that’s for sure. So, great result and we move forward,” the coach added.
