10 Things You Don’t Know About Darren Keet

A very quiet and hard working man, is none other than Darren Keet. The Cape Town born goal keeper has been getting regular calls for Bafana Bafana and has been the favorite man in the Wits goal posts. These are 10  things you do not know about, Darren Keet.

  1. Keet was born in Cape Town and is only 27 years old.
  2. Born in Cape Town, Keet was a member of the Vasco Da Gama squad that won promotion to the National First Division in 2008.
  3. He made his PSL debut with the Bidvest Wits in 2008 and quickly established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper making 54 league appearances.
  4. He signed for the Belgian club KV Kortrijk in June 2011 on a four-year contract.
  5. On 10 September 2013, Keet made his international debut for South Africa in a friendly against Zimbabwe at Orlando Pirates, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–1 loss.
  6. In 2016 Keet, came back to South Africa and signed for Bidvest Wits.
  7. Keet, now getting regular call-ups to Bafana Bafana, was discarded at the famed Ajax juniors but instead of giving up the way almost everyone else did he fought, he soldiered on moving to Edgemead from there then returning to Bothasig after which he moved to Vasco da Gama before arriving at Wits in 2008.
  8. Keet, took inspiration to be a goal keeper after watching Calvin Marlin playing while still at Ajax Cape Town juniors.
  9. Keet, became a father to his son while away on international duty for Bafana Bafana in AFCON 2015 in Equatorial Guinea.
  10. Keet, has been a regular in the Wits first 11 this season and keeping fellow keeper Moneeb Joseph on the bench.
