SuperSport United captain Clayton Daniels says the club’s progress in the Nedbank Cup will not take focus away from their league campaign.

Matsatsantsa progressed to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup with a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows and will travel to Cape Town to face Ajax in the final four.

The Pretoria club is looking to add to the Telkom Knockout trophy they won early this year, but Daniels assures fans this will not be to the detriment of their league form.

SuperSport currently sit seventh in the Premiership table, level on points with Polokwane City in eighth and only three points ahead of Maritzburg United and University of Pretoria.

Daniels is adamant the club is determined to finish in the top eight this season and will be doing everything in their power to achieve that on top of their cup success.

“It’s six more games to go and it is important to keep going like this and playing away and getting three points,” Daniels told KickOff.

“It’s downhill and a lot of points to play for and we really want to end up in the top eight.

“I think everyone is coming to the party now and the squad is fit and everyone is fighting for a position which is healthy for the team and it will only make us stronger.

“The league is the league and the cup is the cup.

“As much as we take the league seriously, it is the same as much as we take the cup seriously.”
