Tiyani Mabunda Bid Farewell to Mamelodi Sundowns! The combustive defender has left the club on a free transfer.
Tiyani Mabunda played absolutely no part in the previous season for Mamelodi Sundowns in the previous season. His contract has not been renewed and will leave the club as a free agent.
Shuga joined the club 8 years ago from Black Leopards. In his time with The Brazilians, he became a serial winner under Pitso Mosimane.
Mabunda has won 5 PSL titles and the 2016 CAF Champions League with the club. He also elevated to being a regular player in the Bafana Bafana camp.
He grew to become of the most important players at the team. However, with age and the influx of new, young, and talented players at the club, exits were expected and Mabunda is one of the old guards to leave the team.
“It has always crossed my mind that one day I will have to say my thank you.” Mabunda posted on his Instagram account.
“Never did I think it would be this hard. Everyone who knows me can testify of how strong I am, but today I’m at my weakest.
“I can confidently say that my strong yellow heart is actually my weakness.
“Through the 8 years I’ve been at @sundownsfc I have grown to love everything about the club. I became a better human being from the platform given unto me.
“I played with the greatest footballer this country has ever seen. I also played against the greatest footballer in the continent and in the world wearing the colours of this club.
“I could never ask God for any other family like @sundownsfc.
“Thank you to the board, management, technical staff, medical, kitchen staff, ground staff, coaching staff and everyone who is involved in the running of this unstoppable machine called Mamelodi Sundowns.
“I thank God for each one of you and I will continue to pray for all of you. Till we meet again” he concluded.
