Vina Maphosa: “Kaizer Chiefs Are Cup Kings”

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa says they will not let Bloemfontein Celtic dominate them when they play in the annual Macufe Cup on Sunday. Maphosa told the Kaizer Chiefs Official website that it does not matter which type of a match they are playing, they always have one thing in mind and that is winning

“We can’t let Bloemfontein Celtic dominate us in a match, be it a friendly or an official match,” assures Maphosa about Sunday’s clash.

“We bring a full strength team. The only missing players will be Itumeleng Khune, Erick Mathoho and George Lebese, who are on duty with the South African national team.”

The Cup is part of the Macufe Arts and Culture Festival happening this week in Bloemfontein.

“The last time we won the trophy was back in 2011, which is a worrying statistic,” reflects Maphosa.

“This doesn’t gel well with who we are. We are Cup Kings and the number one football brand in South Africa.”
