Xavi: Guardiola always hinted at Premier League dream

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez and now Qatari club Al Sadd player believes that Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola will make his trade in the Premier League. The 44-year-old manager announced his exit late last year (2015) citing the reason to join the Premier League. As the speculation rife over his future and Louis van Gaal’s inconsistent performance at Manchester United together with the vacant post at Chelsea, the Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge are being touted as possible move for the Spanish tactician.

“From the way his Barcelona and Bayern teams have played football during his tenure respectively, it is clear he plays a philosophy of football the fans will enjoy”, Xavi said. “When I was at Barcelona we would always be talking about the Premier League, and our respect for the quality of the teams, the players, and the pace the game was played at.

“Even when he was at Barcelona, you could see it was his dream to one day manages in England”, he added. Nevertheless, Xavi has claimed that Guardiola has long admired English football and believes he will be successful wherever he goes.

Xavi was instrumental during Guardiola’s trophy-laden years, playing a key role in midfield as the Blaugrana claimed the treble in the 2008-09 season before following that up with a La Liga – Champions League double in 2010-11.
