According to Soccer Laduma, the project began even before Mosimane joined the Egyptian giants in 2020. But a move to Egypt put on hold the whole process with the Kagiso-born coach focusing on making history with Ahly.

“The Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools are part of Coach Pitso’s legacy of not only creating the player of tomorrow but also ensuring that he contributes towards football in South Africa for it to go back to the level of excellence that we know it to be, and most importantly reaching new heights,” says Moira Tlhagale, Managing Director of MT Sports Marketing and Management,” the statement read in part.

“The aim of the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools is to develop a football programme that will have a holistic approach to growing a player both on and off the field. The player of tomorrow will be balanced academically, socially, and most importantly, technically.

“Key elements that form part of the PMSS programme is to ensure the employment of the right calibre of coaches; adherence to a specified development plan and ensuring the environment that the players are in is safe and encouraged to thrive,” shared Keletso Totlhanyo, General Manager of MT Sports Marketing and Management.

Having been successful in his coaching career, Pitso Mosimane’s programme is surely going to contribute immensely to the development of South African football.

The former Bafana Bafana coach has reached his third consecutive CAF Champions League final with Al Ahly since he arrived in 2020 and will be up against Wydad Casablanca on 30 May 2022.

Should he come out victorious, he’ll take his side to another third FIFA Club World Cup in a row where they could potentially face one of the UEFA Champions League finalists – Liverpool or Real Madrid.

However, before the Champions League final, Mosimane’s troops are under pressure to collect maximum points in attempting to close the gap between them and Egyptian league log leaders Zamalek. Bear in mind they lost the league to them last season.

Today, Ahly take on National Bank Egypt away from home before they travel to Enppi on 21 May which will be followed by the Champions League final a few days later.
