Thulani Tyson Hlatshwayo is a Bidvest Wits defender known for steering the team to success by keeping clean sheets at the defence and occasionally scoring goals when it matters. Known as Tyson, the defender is a captain who leads by example and has exceptional leadership skills. These are ten things you do not know about Hlatshwayo.

1. Hlatshwayo tied the knot this year by marring his long time girlfriend. The guest list included stars such as Mamelodi Sundowns’ Keagan Dolly, Ajax Cape Town skipper Travis Graham and Kaizer Chiefs defenders Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Sibusiso Khumalo.
2. Hlatshwayo played for Senoane Gunners together with Thulani Serero and that is where they were both scouted for professional football.
3. Hlatshwayo joined the Ajax Cape Town youth academy in 2005 and was promoted to the Ajax Cape Town senior in 2009.
4. He made his professional debut for Ajax on 5 August 2009 in a 2-1 win against Orlando Pirates, in a quarter-final match of the 2009 MTN 8 tournament at the Coca Cola Park in Johannesburg
5. Hlatshwayo has taken Ajax Cape Town to two cup finals, MTN 8 in 2009 and Telkom Knockout cup in 2010.
6. The closest to winning the PSL title for Hlatshwayo has been with Wits in the 2016/16 season.

8. In the early months of 2014 it was announced that ‘Tyson’ as he is efficiently known has signed a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits. By doing so Hlatshwayo ended speculations that he was heading to Orlando Pirates. He joined the Johannesburg-based club in June. He has since been a force to be reckoned alongside another former Ajax CT player in Thato Mokeke. He started in Bidvest’s opening league game against SuperSport United.
9. Tyson has and is till Wits Captain for two consecutive seasons that being 2015/16 and 2016/17 season.
