Yusuf Maart Wins DSTV Premiership Goal of the Season! This is for his incredible effort in the Soweto Derby.

Yusuf Maart has won the 2022/2023 DSTV Premiership Goal of the Season for his strike against Orlando Pirates. He has thanked his teammates for the award.

The Amakhosi midfielder scored from his own half against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby earlier this season. The goal will go down as probably the best strike in the history of that match.

It was the favourite to win the DSTV Premiership Goal of the Season even at that early stage of the campaign.

“For that goal, I really appreciate my teammates, for having a team sports, because at the end of the day, without them I wouldn’t have scored the goal,” Maart told the club media.

“And we defended as a team, from the front. Khama [Billiat] told me from before the time that, ‘listen, check the goalkeeper there, he’s from his line.’

“And then Khama wins the ball, he won the tackle [on Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo]. The ball went lose, I took the ball, and I went up. Then I told myself let me just take the risk and hit it.

“I just want to thank everyone out there for voting for me, for goal of the season. For the supporters, for the fans, I really appreciate you guys and thank you for everything. Amakhosi For Life.”
