This Kaizer Chiefs Duo to Miss Carling Black Label Cup! Amakhosi have suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of the competition.

Kaizer Chiefs captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana are recovering from injuries. As a result, they will miss out on the Carling Black Label Cup.

The tournament is set to take place on the 12th of November, at the FNB Stadium. It is like the Telkom Charity Cup of yesteryear, where the semi-finals, 3rd/4th playoff, and final all take place on the same day.

This is a gruelling setup, which needs all members of the team to be fit.

“Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and captain, Itumeleng Khune, as well as striker, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, have been ruled out of this year’s Carling Black Label Cup, scheduled to take place on 12 November 2022, at FNB Stadium.” The club announced.

“The two players have been withdrawn from the voting list following advice from the Chiefs medical team. Khune is being treated for a knee tendon injury, and Caleb for a groin strain.

“Khune and Bimenyimana also missed last Saturday’s Soweto Derby, which saw Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the DStv Premiership at FNB Stadium.

“Khune led the Carling Black Label Cup voting list across all participating teams by a substantial margin, with almost 170 000 votes – followed by Keagan Dolly on 65 000 votes.

“Supporters who selected the duo to start the match will be “refunded” their votes by the organisers and will be allowed to re-cast their votes for players available for team selection.

“Chiefs will face Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup at midday on Saturday, 12 November. The first game, at 9:30am, will see AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns kick off the competition.

“The third=place play-off starts at 3:30pm with the final commencing at 5pm.” The statement confirmed.

Amakhosi will have all members fit, otherwise. This Kaizer Chiefs Duo to Miss Carling Black Label Cup!
