5 Things You Didn’t Know About New Orlando Pirates Man Mandla Ncikazi! The former Golden Arrows head coach was announced as the newest member to the Buccaneers technical team.
Mandla Ncikazi and Abafana Bes’thende went their separate ways last week. He spent only one season as head coach of Golden Arrows as he steered them to 4th place.
This form has won him a three year contract to be part of the coaching staff at Orlando Pirates. He will work alongside Josef Zinnbauer and Fadlu Davids.
His role has yet to be fully detailed.
Reports have suggested that Ncikazi’s arrival at Orlando Pirates will also signal the arrival of Steve Komphela.

- He was a professional soccer player for the likes of AmaZulu, before injury ended his career in 2000.
- Ncikazi has coached in all levels of South African football, ranging from Nathi Lions all the way up to Free State Stars.
- He won the 2009 MTN 8 trophy as the assistant coach to Manqoba Mngqithi at Golden Arrows. They famously beat Ajax Cape Town 6-0 at the Orlando Stadium.
- Ncikazi also worked as an assistant coach to Steve Komphela at Golden Arrows.
- His first coaching role in the PSL was in 2015 when he took over from Steve Komphela at Maritzburg United. He was fired after just 5 matches, following a poor start to the 2015/2016 ABSA Premiership season.
