Usuthu took the lead through former Amakhosi striker Dumsani Zuma, scoring from a corner kick. Another former Amakhosi player Ramahlwe Mphahlele also scored from a header.

Striker Sere Junior Dion capitalized from a defensive error between Edmilson Dove and Itumeleng Khune to make it 3-0 before halftime. Forward Bongi Ntuli scored the fourth goal towards the end of the game.

Amakhosi striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana missed a penalty when they were trailing 1-0.

“I think if you look at the game last week [against Sekhukhune United] and you look at the way we played today, I think we put them on the back foot early in the game,” Mangethe told Carol Tshabalala of SuperSport TV.

“Maybe here and there poor decision in the final third, then we conceded. Just after conceding from a dead ball situation, I believe we could have defended better.

“Then we got a penalty, I think that had we converted that penalty it would have been a different ball game all together. But, after that again we conceded from a dead ball situation, then a mistake you know. And unfortunately, whenever we make mistakes, we get punished and when the opposition makes those mistakes, we don’t take them, we don’t bury the chances.

“So, it’s one of those days that I would like to forget, more especially for the players because I think they tried their level best, I think several times Mshini [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo] should have scored, Duba [Mduduzi Shabalala] should have scored and I believe [Edmilson] Dove as well, so it just wasn’t our day.

“But the performance wasn’t that bad to be quite honest. We were in control of the game, obviously when we were chasing the game, we lost a little bit of our structure.

“But we still looked like scoring at any given time, though we knew that now they would just sit back and want us to come and catch us on the counterattack. So, its one of those where we can learn from it, and we learnt the hard way today.” He spoke.
