In the 2018/2019 season, Liverpool targeted both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles. They added more quality in Virgil Van Dijk, Allison Becker, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Reds missed out on the Premier League by only a point behind Manchester City. They Cityzens tallied by 98 points while Liverpool could only manage 97.

Liverpool was able to forget that memory disappointment. Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League over Spurs just a few weeks later on.
