STELLENBOSCH FC DOING WELL!
A lot of people might ask themselves what happened to Vasco Da Gama. Vasco Da Gama football club made waves when they were promoted to the PSL in the 2013/2014 season but soon were relegated back to the National First Division.
Ever since being back in the NFD, Vasco have struggled to make their way back to the PSL. In 2016, the club relocated to Stellenbosch and they soon renamed the club to Stellenbosch FC. The Chief Operating Officer at the club, Edries Burton stated “The name ‘Stellenbosch FC’ shows our intention of creating a club that symbolises the Cape Winelands community. We are on a pathway of building something special‚ and we want to take this community with us”.
Under the guidance of Sammy Troughton, the Northern Ireland born coach has managed to keep the club in good sight of a promotion to the PSL. Stellenbosch FC are sitting 7th on the NFD log and will fight their way to the top. The cape Winelands based side is in good form with a focused and hard working squad and this is definitely a team to follow.
