10 Things You Didn’t Know About Siphelele Mthembu
1. In the 2007–08 season, Mthembu scored 25 goals in the KZN stream of the Vodacom League.
2. He made his pre-season debut on 26 July 2008 in a 4–0 loss to Manchester United with Ryan Giggs , Wayne Rooney, Fraizer Campbell and Tom Cleverley each scoring.
3. Mthembu had to sign for Orlando Pirates after management won a legal argument that his services belonged to the club.
4. He had short stints with Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows, before moving to Dikwena at the start of 2012–13.
5. He was born August 15, 1987 in Melmorth, KwaZulu Natal.
6. In 2014 he signed with Chiefs for his second stint with the club.
7. In recent weeks he was part of seven players deemed surplus to requirements at Chiefs.
8. He made his debut for South Africa in 2013.
9. Mthembu scored a usual hat-trick against EduSports on 21 February 2015, scoring all with his head at FNB Stadium.
10. He is nicknamed “Shaka Zulu”.
