Reaction to Mamelodi Sundowns’ Nedbank Cup Triumph
Reaction to Mamelodi Sundowns’ Nedbank Cup Triumph. On Saturday Mamelodi Sundowns became only the second ever PSL to complete the treble. Pitso Mosimane’s side did it with a 1-0 win over Bloemfomtein Celtic.
Mamelodi Sundowns won their second trophy in a week after defeating Bloemfontein Celtic in the Nedbank Cup. Gaston Sirino’s goal was enough to get the better of the Siwelele. The Sundowns players and staff were jubilant to complete their first ever treble.
The treble includes the Telkom Knockout as well as the ABSA Premiership which was dramatically won last week. Pitso Mosimane will now look to enjoy the achievements of his side. This will be a short period though as the serial winner will now look to add more trophies into the cabinet.

Mamelodi Sundowns will enjoy a prolonged pre-season as they have participated in a lot more games than every other team in the PSL.
Players like Andile Jali have experienced this kind of trophy success before. The midfielder won back to back trebles with Orlando Pirates in 2011 and 2012. The first ever treble success in the PSL era. Jali’s Orlando Pirates won successive PSL titles, successive MTN 8 titles as well as singular Telkom Knockouts and Nedbank Cups.
It is without doubt that Pitso Mosimane will look to emulate Pirates’ impressive feat. Only one side has ever won back to back successes. After joining Pirates as the only other side to win the CAF Champions League, Sundowns have now joined Pirates as the only other side to win a treble.
