Happy Birthday To Kaizer Chiefs Defender Daniel Cardoso!
Happy Birthday To Kaizer Chiefs Defender Daniel Cardoso! The Amakhosi stalwart turns 31 years old today. Cardoso remains one of Chiefs longest serving players, having joined the Amakhosi in 2015.
Daniel Cardoso made his debut for Free State Stars in 2012. He spent three relatively successful season in the Free State. This attracted Bobby and Kaizer Motaung to bring the influential centre back to Naturena.
Since joining, Cardoso has had to bide his time. He was behind in the pecking order. Defenders such as Erick Mathoho and Lorenzo Gordinho were all ahead of Cardoso. But now, the Bafana Bafana international is Chiefs’ main centre back, with everyone else rotating around him.
Daniel Cardoso, whose father is Portuguese and mother a South African, had try outs in Portugal. In 2003, Cardoso joined Yebo Yes United in the Vodacom Premier League. Allegedly, Cardoso was on an astonishing R100 000 per month in the third division.
Daniel Cardoso has one international cap to his name. This was in 2015 against Swaziland in a 3-1 win for South Africa.
Cardoso has also become Kaizer Chiefs’ main man for penalties. The centre back famously scored a late winner for Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates in the PSL last season. Chiefs ended up winning 3-2 thanks to the goal.
Amazingly, that penalty strike was Cardoso’s third consecutive penalty goal against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby!
Please join us in wishing a very happy birthday to Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso!
