Happy Birthday To Moroka Swallows Ambassador Keabetswe Jan! The “o jewa ke eng” orchestrator celebrated her birthday yesterday! Keabetse Jan (@akreana) became a viral sensation when she posted “o jewa ke eng?” on the first of January 2019. The post has since received over a million impressions.
Keabetswe Jan was one of the first people to show her elation when her favourite team Moroka Swallows made it back into the PSL. She has since kept a close affiliation with club officials. The club were quick to wish Keabetswe a very happy birthday too.
When speaking with Talk 702 in January of this year, Kea expressed her surprise when the “o jewa ke eng” post hit the heights that it did.
“I did not expect it (the response to the tweet) to last as long as it did. It was done with the purest intention of knowing what was bothering people.
“When the tweet first started it was actually lighthearted, with people saying bajewa ke dimosquito (disturbed by mosquitos), bothered by financial problems and then it became big. Issues ranged from rape, unemployment, school and education-related issues.
“A lot of people complained about unemployment. It was so sad because the people that complained were sitting at home with degrees, including master’s degree. Other people found their families via the tweet.”
Keabetse has since launched several charitable movements. This includes the #KeaDrive, #KeaJobSeekers #KeaHustler, #KeaCupid and #KeaFridayConfessions
