Siya Kolisi Joins The Oakley Family! The Springbok Rugby captain announced the news on his Instagram yesterday. Siya Kolisi joins a prestigious list of sportsmen and sportswomen who are part of the Oakley team.
According to the Oakley website, Siya Kolisi becomes the only rugby player to be part of the Oakley team. The California based company endorses the best athletes from a range of different sports’.
These include football (American), snowing, surfing, BMX, motorsports, golf, MTB, fishing, multisports, baseball, skate and ski. Kolisi wouldn’t be the first to be the only representative of their sport.
Daniel Norris is the only baseball player to be part of the Oakley family. Kevin Vandam is also the only fishing representative to be part of the Oakley family.
Unlike all the family members of Oakley, Siya Kolisi doesn’t require any sunglasses to play his sports. Other sports, like skiing and motorsports require some form of eyewear.
So, it will be interesting to see which direction Siya Kolisi and Oakley veer into. Will it be off the rugby pitch or will they find a way to integrate Oakley onto the rugby pitch?
All of these are questions which will be answered as time goes by. For the time being, Siya Kolisi is the only African athlete part of the Oakley ranks.
Kolisi joins a prestigious list of acclaimed sportsmen and sportswomen. This includes the likes of Chloe Kim, Rim Nakamura, Bubba Watson, Valentino Rossi and Ryan Sheckler.
