Danny Jordaan & SAFA Will Endorse Patrice Motsepe’s CAF Presidency Attempt!
Danny Jordaan & SAFA Will Endorse Patrice Motsepe’s CAF Presidency Attempt! The Mamelodi Sundowns chairman announced his intention to run for CAF president in 2021. This announcement was made through Danny Jordaan and Nathi Mthethwa.
Patrice Motsepe is the 10th richest man in Africa. He has a plethora of business interests throughout the continent.
His latest venture sees Motsepe officially run for CAF president in 2021.
He already has the support of Botswana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. He has also reportedly garnered the support of Gianni Infantino.
Motsepe’s attempts to become CAF president are like him usurping Danny Jordaan in his role as SAFA President. Should Motsepe be appointed CAF President, he will be Jordaan’s superior.
“The SAFA constitution is clear, you can’t be a club owner and President. In CAF there is no such.
“But for governance issues, he will have to step down. We do not want any governance issues to come back to us” Danny Jordaan said.
Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick is amongst the delegate to support Motsepe.
“This is a new direction. Everyone expected me to run for President.
“But sometimes it’s better to be behind someone and learn from them” Pinnick said.
“He has superior qualities than me. It’s not about me, it’s about African football.” He concluded.
Motsepe is going up against current president Ahmad Ahmad and Ivory Coast’s Jacques Anouma.
