SABC Begins Televising Selected FA Cup Football Matches! The State Owned Enterprise has acquired the rights to televise selected FA Cup games.
These are the Round 5 matches of the English tournament. Last night the SABC began televising the first of four 5th Round F.A Cup fixtures.
“SABC Sport, is pleased to announce that, as part of its Free-to-Air (FTA) rights to the English FA Cup, it will broadcast four selected matches of the 5th round of the FA Cup, live on SABC 1 and SABC 3 from Tuesday 9 February until Thursday 11 February 2021.” A statement issued by the SABC read
“The matches will also be available on the Telkom One platform, SABC Sport’s DTT channel, as well as live streaming via sabcsportonline.co.za.
“The FA Cup is the world’s greatest football club competition and SABC Sport will broadcast the four selected matches as follows:
Manchester United vs. West Ham United – 9 February 2020 *already played
Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion – 10 February – 21h15 – SABC 3
Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur – 10 February – 22h00 – SABC 1
Barnsley vs. Chelsea – 11 February – 21h00 SABC 3
“The match between Leicester and Brighton could see two South African players line up against each other at the King Power Stadium.
“Thakgalo Leshabela has come through the development structures at Leicester City and the midfielder is yet to make his debut in the Premier League. Percy Tau recently joined Brighton after being recalled from his loan spell in Belgium.
“The SABC will also broadcast the two quarter final matches; the semi-final matches as well as the final match, live from Wembley Stadium on SABC 3. The dates for these matches will be announced in due course.” The SABC concludes.
