Gavin Hunt Says Everybody At Kaizer Chiefs Is Disappointed! Amakhosi host The Buccaneers in the Soweto Derby on Sunday.
This will be the 100th league fixture of this nature. Gavin Hunt explained in the pre-match press conference that no one is as disappointed as him at the moment.
Kaizer Chiefs is languishing in 11th place on the DSTV Premiership log. On the contrary, Orlando Pirates are up to third on the current standings.
Gavin Hunt acknowledged that his opponents are the better side at the moment.
“They’ve invested heavily into the squad‚ and it’s made them stronger‚ that’s for sure‚” Hunt said in a digital pre-match presser.
“They’ve got a lot of options in their team‚ if you look across their squad. A very good squad of players‚ they’ve done well‚ and rightly so.
“It’ll be a tough‚ tough game for us but we know that. So we’ve just got to face up to it.”
When asked about the influence the FIFA transfer ban had on the team, he admits that it heavily hampered the progress of the team.
“Listen‚ we are all disappointed – internally and the football club‚ the players and the staff. Everybody’s disappointed‚ we obviously also want to be better. But we’ve got to be realistic about these things‚” Hunt said.
“And if anybody’s more disappointed than me then I find that hard to believe. I’m disappointed‚ sure.
“I don’t think I’ve lost to Pirates three times in my life. So it’s disappointing‚ but we’ve got to look forward and we’ve got to correct these mistakes and just do better.”
Gavin Hunt has already lost 3 times to Orlando Pirates this season. Twice in the MTN 8 semi-finals and in their first league fixture of the season.
He doesn’t believe that Amakhosi was tactically ousted in any of the defeats. Hunt insists that his side could’ve won at least 1 of those games.
“Ja‚ tactics‚ shew. We got caught out‚ [the ball] took a deflection here or there. I wouldn’t say tactics.
“The ball was turned over‚ we had possession of the ball – you’re looking at two or three of the goals [that Chiefs conceded]. So‚ you know‚ people talk about tactics‚ I beg to differ a bit.” He added.
