Chelsea Claim First Leg Victory in UEFA Champions League Return! The Blues began the journey to retaining their European crown.

Chelsea defeated reigning French champions LOSC Lille 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League last night. They are the favourites to seal passage into the last 8 after the win.

The reigning European champions are striving to retain their crown, becoming only the second team after Real Madrid to achieve this feat in the current format of the tournament.

They took the lead in the first half through German forward Kai Havertz. The lead was doubled in the second half by American forward Christian Pulisic.

“We need to work on our control more.” Pulisic told UEFA.com.

“The game felt a bit too open at times today, but you expect that against a good team. We defended well today and that was really important.

“It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet, and even more so because it helped us get a good result today. When N’Golo is driving like that, it’s just a question of keeping up with him and I managed to do that and finish it off.

“We’re in a good position now but we know it’s not going to be easy over there.” He added.
