Kaizer Chiefs Remembers Their Quadruple Winning Side Of 1989! Amakhosi recently honoured one of the greatest sides to ever represent them.
In the year 1989, Kaizer Chiefs won a quadruple of trophies, which was unprecedented at the time. They paid homage to the side that helped them reach their iconic levels.
These legendary players include Gary Bailey, Mike Mangena, Mark Tovey, Garden Seale, Shane McGregor, William Shongwe and Albert Bwalya.
They gathered in Houghton, to reminisce on the glory days which the club seeks to hard to emulate once more.
“These engagements with our legends are very crucial for the club.” Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung told the club media.
“We pulled this gathering off in a short space of time, but we are very happy to work with our former players to host these kinds of events.
“Engaging with the class of 1989 helped us understand from a human and football element just what these extraordinary players meant to us a club and to football in the country – and also what drove them to succeed,” she added.
“We have a few more of these reunions planned for the coming year. It is crucial for us as a club to connect with our past, as it makes us stronger going forward.
“We hope to include our current senior team and youth team players in some of these events in the future.” She concluded.
