Kaizer Chiefs visits Stellenbosch FC in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday. Defender Siyabonga Ngezana has rallied behind his team and teammates ahead of the clash in the Western Cape.

In the reverse fixture it was Stellies who took all three points at the FNB Stadium. Striker Ashley Du Preez scored an absolute stunner past Daniel Akpeyi to score the solitary goal of that game.

Now, playing after a disappointing 1-0 loss to SuperSport United at home, Amakhosi are well and truly wounded. Their fight for second spot needs a revival.

“We will rebuild against Stellenbosch.” Ngezana told the club website.

“We hope to finish the season on a high note, that’s the only thing we can do now. The Stellenbosch game will be crucial for us.

“It’s an away game, but we are looking to return home with three points,” he added.

In their home loss to Matsatsantsa, The Glamour Boys created a flurry of chances which they did not take. This led to the visitors scoring one of the few chances they created.

“We shouldn’t have lost that game. But it’s a learning curve for us.

“We created a lot of chances, but it was one of those days when luck was not on our side. They created only two chances and managed to convert one of the chances they had.

“There was a lack of concentration on our part, and we could have defended better as defenders. They caught us out of position and scored.

“Now (against Stellenbosch) we need to rectify our mistakes. If we manage to keep a clean sheet at the back, we would be doing our job as defenders,” he said.

Ngezana only returned to the first team in the calendar year after battling with injuries for most of the campaign.

“It’s not about individuals, but I am happy I am back to add something to the team. I’m not just here to add numbers, I’m pushing myself hard to be consistent and to help the team to win games.

It is up to me to push myself and things will fall into place,” he concluded.
