Rulani Mokwena Admits He Is Unhappy with Bongani Zungu’s Weight! The midfielder has recently re-joined his former club.
Bongani Zungu resigned for Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of the new season. Co-coach Rulani Mokwena has said that the progress the midfielder has made hasn’t been good enough.
Ben 10 has face many off the pitch problems over the past two years. This is when he was on loan at Rangers from parent club Amiens in France.
He broke Covid-19 protocol and essentially saw his playing time dramatically decreased under Steven Gerrard. This saw him lose crucial game time, and he eventually returned to France.
The midfielder was unhappy with this, as the club was relegated to the second division. He lost even more game time there, resulting in fitness also going away.
As a result, he joined The Brazilians not in the greatest shape, which is something Rulani Mokwena admits he has told the midfielder.
“He knows I’m not happy,” he said on Sunday afternoon.
“He knows he can do more — I’m not afraid to say it here [to the media] because I’ve said it to him. But we continue to work [on him].
“The physical trainers have tried to assist him and it’s not easy because of where Bongani has been in the last two seasons. It has been very difficult for him.
“The subject of weight loss is completely different to the subject of conditioning. So, it’s difficult to put a time frame to that, but to lose the number of kilos that he has lost is a reflection of the good work he and the conditioning team have done.
“He remains committed to the process and I’m sure you will still see a bit more from Bongs and he will continue to work hard. He is a top professional, which is what got him to Europe.” Mokwena added.
