Innocent Maela Is Focused on Playing AmaZulu in The MTN 8 Final! The Buccaneers take on Usuthu this coming weekend.
Orlando Pirates face AmaZulu in the MTN 8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this weekend. Captain Innocent Maela is adamant that the squad is fully focused on this match.
The Buccaneers are coming from a demoralising 1-0 defeat at home to bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership. Inno has however reiterated that the players have moved on and are focusing on playing Usuthu.
“As the coach has already eluded, we’re starting our preparations today [Tuesday], we’re starting our week today.” Maela told the press.
“So yeah, we have an opportunity to play the final. We have an opportunity for a trophy, like the coach has said, a very emotional week.
“But the most important thing for us players is to focus on our training sessions, focus on the next task in training, and focus on planning for the match. For us that’s the most important thing, to make sure that we are full in during our sessions so that we can be well prepared for the match.” The captain added.
Maela was unable to play the full 90 minutes in the Soweto Derby, due to injury. He is battling time to see if he will be able to play in the final.
“People saw that I couldn’t finish the match [against Kaizer Chiefs] because of a niggle that I had, but we are still busy with the team doctors. We are still busy with the physios, it’s too early to tell.
“But I feel good, I feel confident, and we will see as the week goes by, so nothing confirmed as yet.” He added.
