Lucky Lekgwathi spent his festive period in the North West, relaxing and playing football with other legends of the game. Check out some snaps of how much fun he clearly had.
Lekgwathi is still a huge figure in the football fraternity. He is an ambassador for the MTN 8 and still very much involved with long time club Orlando Pirates.
In addition to this, Lekgwathi is involved in several charities and foundations where he and other PSL legends still play the game.
The retired defender spent Christmas Eve at Sun City in the North West. After this, himself alongside the likes of Jabu Mahlangu and Steve Lekolea played in various football tournaments in the townships of Soweto.
Nowadays, Lekgwathi owns and runs his own restaurant, Grootman Restaurant. Since their launch in 2021, his business has faced a few challenges.
In July 2021, they were victims of nationwide looting, where the shop was completely vandalised and left in ruins. He had to raise capital to reopen the store, which he did.
In 2022, the shop was victim to a robbery, which saw his employees being held at gunpoint.
“I was at home and had to rush to the shop. Then I called the police,” Lekgwathi said, as per TimesLIVE.
“I was scared because these thugs beat the workers up and I do not understand why they would do such a thing. My main concern was the safety of the workers.
“I have put up videos and pictures of them on social media, and I am confident they will be arrested. We must all work together to stop crime.
“I want to appeal to the community to help us to identify these people. If people can recognise them, please go to Booysens police station or come to our shop.”
The former Bafana Bafana defender will hope for better fortunes for his shop this year. This Is How Lucky Lekgwathi Spent His Festive Period!
