The only goal of the game came courtesy of a first half strike from Neo Maema. Matsatsantsa had their own opportunities in the game, which they failed to make the most of.
“I’m satisfied about my performance and have noticed that I didn’t give away many balls as a defensive midfielder. I think I should have put much more effort going forward because I had more energy as the match progressed,” he relayed to the club website.
“We worked as a compact unit but were just unlucky as we created a lot of scoring opportunities,” the defensive midfielder spoke.
The Capetonian joined SuperSport on a short-term loan deal in the current transfer window.
“I honestly think we didn’t deserve to lose the derby match because every player came to the party including those who came off the bench.”
Matsatsantsa will play Richards Bay FC in their next league match. This is an encounter between two of the top three, with Mamelodi Sundowns being number one.
“The next match is crucial; we must go into the match with the same energy we possessed in our last match against Sundowns. It is not going to be an easy one as we will be fighting to cement a place in the top eight bracket.
“We have our own target as we can’t afford to drop more points in the second round of the season.” The midfielder concluded.
