Orlando Pirates have done relatively well in the DSTV Diski Challenge this campaign. Head coach Joseph Makhanya would like to see some of these players welcomed into the first team.
The Buccaneers haven’t produced academy talent in numbers over recent years. Their only graduate in the team remains to be Thabiso Monyane, who has seen left back Paseka Mako take his right back position as of late.
Youngster Boitumelo Radiopane is a name which has excited the Pirates faithful. He graduated from the academy and was sent out on loan to Cape Town Spurs, where he has done well in his first full season in professional football.
“There’s plenty of talent in our team who are showing good signs.” The former player spoke, as per Sowetan.
“Integration is a process that should not be rushed so that they cannot break when they get there.
“For the youngsters, it takes a bit of readiness for them to be up for the challenge but then again, we do advocate for them to be given a platform and whenever they are given a chance they should crack and show signs of being ready.
“We need to trust the process and hope the first team coach will come up with a proper plan on how to integrate the players, we are still waiting for that.
“This was the coach’s first season in SA, and he needed to focus on making sure that the first does produce good results, the pressure on his side was too much,” he added.
