Moroka Swallows confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Andile Jali last week. he has expressed his delight at finding a new home.
Mhlekazi was a free agent after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns last season. There were a lot of rumours about his next club after this.
But Jali preferred to remain in Gauteng and in Johannesburg, which is why a move to The Dube Birds suited him.
“I want to say thank you to the chairman first,” Jali stated on Gagasi FM.
“I’ve been waiting long until I signed the contract. I said to Mike ‘I don’t want to leave Joburg, so it’s better I’d be in Joburg’.
“That’s when Swallows came before they even though I’m going to Swallows. Moroka Swallows is my new home, I’m so happy.
“And I’m so glad the club made the decision because the people believe in me.” He stated.
Club chairman David Mogashoa was thrilled to acquire the services of the 33-year-old. He claims that he wished to sign Jali back in 2018, after he returned from Belgium.
“I wanted AJ when he just arrived from Europe.
“He had just arrived at his club, and we were still in the GladAfrica Championship then,” he added.
“But he is not a GladAfrica player, he is a PSL player. So, I’ve always admired AJ and when coach came, I said to him ‘I want to reunite you with your son’.
“He said to me ‘I’m not going to saying anything’ because otherwise people will say ‘he’s bringing his own people’.
“I always believed that AJ would add a lot of value to Moroka Swallows and happy that we’re finally reunited.” Mogashoa stated.
