PUMA Unveils Bold New Home and Away Kits for Five African Football Giants
PUMA has launched the 2025 Home and Away kits for five African football powerhouses: Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal, and Ghana. These designs celebrate identity and culture, showcasing intricate elements that honor each nation’s art, history, and pride.
Egypt: Honoring the Pharaohs
With seven African championship titles, Egypt’s kits pay homage to the country’s rich heritage. The bold red Home jersey features stylized illustrations of Pharaohs, pyramids, and sand dunes, symbolizing the grandeur of Egypt’s history. The white Away jersey boasts a striking Pharaoh design set against the backdrop of pyramids.
Côte d’Ivoire: Inspired by Folklore
The Côte d’Ivoire kits draw inspiration from ‘La Fête des Masques,’ a cherished festival in Ivorian culture. The iconic orange Home jersey is detailed with fringe-like patterns reminiscent of traditional costumes, while the white Away kit highlights the energy of festival dances, with green accents and an elephant emblem taking center stage.
Morocco: A Tribute to Craftsmanship
Amsterdam-born designer Abderrahmane Trabsini infused Moroccan and Berber artistry into the Moroccan kits. The red and green Home jersey showcases intricate patterns inspired by Moroccan zellige tiles, symbolizing unity and eternity. The Away jersey incorporates Berber motifs from traditional rugs, representing protection, harmony, and fertility. Both kits reflect Morocco’s vibrant heritage and honor its indigenous language.
Senegal: Embodying Teranga
Senegal’s Home jersey captures the spirit of ‘Teranga’—hospitality and warmth. The design reflects the nation’s workers and modern art, blending a fearless identity with cultural pride. The green and lime Away jersey takes a bold turn, featuring a lion print that embodies strength and unity.
Ghana: United by Symbols
Ghanaian designer Jefferson Osei collaborated with painter Daniel Alum Jasper to create a custom print uniting Ghana’s tribes. The white Home jersey subtly features Adinkra symbols that emerge more prominently as players perspire. The yellow Away kit pays homage to Ghana’s ‘Gold Coast,’ with Adinkra symbols decorating the sleeves.
Availability and Pricing
The kits will be available for purchase starting 25 January 2025, priced at R1,599.
