Zimbabwean Star Lynoth Chikuhwa Set for South African Move in January

Highly sought-after Zimbabwean striker Lynoth Chikuhwa, fresh off a stellar 2024 season, could be heading to South Africa’s top-flight league in January. The 2024 Castle Premier Soccer League Golden Boot winner, who netted 17 goals for Highlanders FC, is set to be out of contract on December 31, 2024, allowing him to move to a new club as a free agent.

According to reports, Chikuhwa has caught the attention of multiple South African clubs, with 2024 Carling Knockout Cup champions Magesi FC leading the charge. However, the Limpopo-based club faces competition from newly promoted Scottland FC, who are also reportedly keen on securing the services of the prolific striker.

Chikuhwa’s remarkable season also saw him finish as the first runner-up for the prestigious Soccer Star of the Year award, narrowly missing out on the title to Walter Musona. He surpassed second runner-up Khama Billiat, and the two shared mutual respect. Billiat, a seasoned star, praised Chikuhwa’s incredible season, acknowledging the talented forward for his performance in the league.

“I really want to appreciate everyone. I came back to play football. I really appreciate the good times we had at Yadah Stars. To the league’s top goal scorer, you really pushed, my brother. Thank you so much,” Billiat said after the season’s awards ceremony.

As Chikuhwa prepares for the next chapter in his career, all eyes are on his potential move to South Africa, where he will look to continue his rise in the professional football scene. With Magesi FC and Scottland FC vying for his signature, the Zimbabwean international’s decision is one to watch closely as the January transfer window approaches.
