Sphelele Mkhulise Reflects on Bongani Zungu’s Move to AmaZulu
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise has shared his thoughts on Bongani Zungu’s recent signing with AmaZulu FC. The announcement came as the Tshwane giants gear up for a Betway Premiership clash against Usuthu tomorrow at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Zungu Joins AmaZulu
Zungu, who parted ways with Sundowns at the end of last season, was unveiled as AmaZulu’s newest addition last week. Despite being linked with top clubs like Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, and Wydad Casablanca, the seasoned midfielder opted for Usuthu, a move aimed at bolstering their climb up the Premiership table.
Though he brings a wealth of experience to AmaZulu, Zungu is unlikely to feature against Sundowns in tomorrow’s match.
Mkhulise on Zungu’s Impact
Speaking through Sundowns’ media department, Mkhulise acknowledged Zungu’s potential impact on his new team.
“Bongani is a very good player, and we all know that he is a good player. He will add value to AmaZulu, so we need to be aware and ready for anything because we don’t know if he will play or won’t play. We know that there is something he can do on the day (if given a chance),” Mkhulise said.
Sundowns Eyeing Top Spot
Mamelodi Sundowns remain focused on maintaining their position at the top of the league table. Their match against AmaZulu will be followed by a crucial clash against Richards Bay at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, marking their final games of 2024.
Mkhulise emphasized the challenges ahead, especially with AmaZulu’s determination to secure points.
“We are expecting a difficult game because they want points and they are playing at home, so it won’t be an easy game. They have good players and they have been playing well, but unfortunately sometimes they have not been getting results,” he added.
A Tense Encounter Awaits
With both teams eager to finish the year on a high note, tomorrow’s showdown promises to be an exciting encounter. While Sundowns aim to solidify their dominance, AmaZulu will look to leverage their new signing and home advantage to cause an upset.
As the season nears its halfway point, all eyes will be on Moses Mabhida Stadium to see how this high-stakes clash unfolds.
