Khanyisa Mayo has once again found the back of the net for CR Belouizdad, playing a key role in securing Sead Ramovic’s first victory as manager.
Mayo’s Goal Secures Crucial Win
The South African international has now scored four goals for the Red and Whites in the Ligue Professionnelle 1 this season. His latest goal came in a dominant 3-0 victory over USM Khenchela, a result that not only marked Ramovic’s first win at the helm but also propelled Belouizdad to the top of the Algerian top flight.
The Umtata native initially faced challenges adapting to life in Algiers, but with four goals in his last seven league appearances, he has begun to showcase his quality and prove his worth to the team.
A Setback for Mayo
While the 26-year-old will be pleased with his recent goalscoring form, his joy was short-lived as he was forced off the pitch due to injury. Just eleven minutes after opening the scoring, Mayo was substituted with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Throughout his career, the forward has proven to be resilient, having not suffered any long-term injuries according to Transfermarkt.
Ramovic will be hopeful that the seven-capped South African international can recover quickly and return to action, as his presence will be crucial in maintaining Belouizdad’s position at the top.
Belouizdad’s Title Push
Currently, CR Belouizdad hold a one-point lead over MC Alger in the league standings, although they have played a game more. With Mayo in fine form, the German tactician Ramovic will be confident in his squad’s ability to continue leading the title race. As the season progresses, the team’s ability to sustain their momentum will be vital in their quest for domestic glory and a strong showing in the CAF Champions League.
