Lebogang Mothiba Weighing European Offer Amid Chinese Interest

South African striker Lebogang Mothiba remains a highly sought-after player in the transfer market, with European clubs showing strong interest in securing his services. Despite receiving an offer from China, the Siya crew has learned that Mothiba is favoring a move to Europe, where he has reportedly received a more attractive proposal.

Sources close to the player have confirmed that Mothiba had been in discussions with a Chinese club while training with Mamelodi Sundowns. However, the forward seems to have his sights set on a return to European football.

“Yes, there was interest and an inquiry from China, but Lebo (Mothiba) is saying he has a much better offer. He didn’t reveal the exact destination, but it is in Europe. From what I understand, it’s a good deal compared to what the Chinese club was offering. Let’s wait and see where he ends up,” a source told the Siya crew.

Another insider revealed that while Mothiba has been training with Mamelodi Sundowns, his primary goal is to maintain his fitness as he awaits the right European opportunity.

“As for Sundowns, they were reportedly interested in signing him on a short-term six-month deal, but things didn’t work out as planned. That’s why they haven’t registered him with the PSL. However, he is still training with them to keep fit while he waits for his European move. Since he is a free agent, he can join a new club at any time,” the second source explained.

Mothiba, who has previously played in France’s Ligue 1 for clubs like RC Strasbourg, has long been linked with a return to South Africa, with Kaizer Chiefs also previously rumored to be interested. However, those discussions never materialized into a formal deal.
