FIFA Imposes Registration Ban on Pyramids FC Over Financial Dispute

North African club Pyramids FC has been hit with a transfer ban by FIFA following a financial complaint from former player Amor Layouni.
The Egyptian outfit has been officially placed on FIFA’s Registration Ban List, with the embargo taking effect from Tuesday, 25 February. The sanction stems from an unpaid financial dispute with the Tunisian winger, as reported by Egyptian outlet Youm7.
CAS Ruling and FIFA’s Enforcement
FIFA confirmed that Pyramids FC failed to comply with a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which had instructed the club to settle outstanding payments owed to Layouni. The club’s appeal against the ruling was dismissed, prompting FIFA to enforce the ban.
Layouni is demanding $300,000 (approximately R5.5 million), plus an additional 5% interest from 1 January 2023. Until the issue is resolved, Pyramids FC will be unable to register any new players, potentially disrupting their transfer plans.
Club’s Future Uncertain
With mounting pressure to resolve their financial obligations, Pyramids FC faces significant challenges ahead of the next transfer window. The club will need to act swiftly to avoid further complications as they navigate this legal setback.
It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming weeks, with FIFA closely monitoring compliance with its financial regulations.
