Ashley Du Preez Sets Bold Targets After Kaizer Chiefs Contract Extension

Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez has outlined his ambitions for the club after securing a two-year contract extension at Naturena.
Chiefs Secure Du Preez’s Future
The Soweto giants opted to trigger the extension clause in Du Preez’s contract, keeping him at the club until at least 2026. The 26-year-old initially joined Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC in July 2022 on a three-year deal with an option for an additional two years.
Despite reported interest from Europe, Du Preez remains fully committed to Chiefs and is eager to take his game to the next level.
Du Preez Aims for More Goals
Speaking about his future at the club, Du Preez expressed his satisfaction with the contract extension and revealed his personal targets.
“As a player, you play for better contracts and all that, but that is not where my focus is,” he said during a media session at the club’s base.
“I’m happy that the club renewed for two years, so I’m pleased and happy to be here for another two years.
“For that two years, what I want to achieve is… I want to score more goals. I want to reach 20+ goals. That is my aim for the two years that I’m going to be here.”
European Interest Not a Distraction
Du Preez also acknowledged the interest he has attracted from European clubs but maintained that his focus remains on delivering for Chiefs.
“Definitely, it motivates you as a player. There is a reason why they are interested in you, and all you can do is work hard for the team you are currently with.
“This is a big club, Kaizer Chiefs, so my focus has always been here. I want to improve and help the team win as many games as we can and for me as a player to improve on scoring goals and help the team win.”
A Key Player for Chiefs
Du Preez has been an important figure in Chiefs’ attack, using his pace and movement to trouble defenders. With his long-term future now secured, he will be looking to step up his goal-scoring contributions and help Amakhosi compete for silverware in the coming seasons.
