Marumo Gallants Determined to End Orlando Pirates’ Nedbank Cup Reign – “Our Goal is the Final”

Marumo Gallants are gearing up for a high stakes battle against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals. With Bucs aiming for a historic third consecutive title, Gallants head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has made it clear that his team is ready to challenge the defending champions and fight for a place in the final.
Gallants Set for a Tough Semi-Final Clash
The Nedbank Cup quarter-finals saw intense action last weekend, with Marumo Gallants and Orlando Pirates among the four teams progressing to the next stage. As the competition nears its climax, the stakes are higher than ever. Pirates are eager to cement their dominance by securing another title, but Gallants have different plans.
Joining them in the last four are Kaizer Chiefs, who will face either Sekhukhune United or Mamelodi Sundowns. The semi-final showdown between Pirates and Gallants will take place at Orlando Stadium, where Bahlabane Ba Ntwa will look to defy the odds and secure an upset victory.
Ouaddou: “We Want to Surprise People Again”
Marumo Gallants’ coach Abdeslam Ouaddou acknowledged his players’ initial disappointment about playing away but emphasized that they are focused on the task ahead.
“I think my players were disappointed, not about the draw, not because we were drawn against Pirates, but they wanted to play at home,” he said.
However, he quickly turned his attention to the opportunity that lies ahead.
“There are no easy games. We will play away, but we will try to make a surprise again. I’d like to stop them from winning a three-peat. But this is football. I can promise you that we will prepare well and try to give a very good show for the fans most importantly.”
Ouaddou further highlighted his team’s ambitions, stating, “We will try to go and win that game because when you play or reach the semifinals, the goal is to go to the final. We will give everything and give them a hard time as well.”
A Fierce Rivalry Renewed
This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season. Pirates dominated the first encounter in the Premier Soccer League with a resounding 8-1 victory, but Gallants bounced back with a stunning 2-0 win in their second clash. This sets the stage for a grudge match in the semi-finals, with both teams determined to outdo each other.
As the Nedbank Cup approaches its conclusion, all eyes will be on Orlando Stadium to see whether Pirates continue their march toward another title or if Gallants can pull off another shock and book their spot in the final.
