Richards Bay’s FIFA Transfer Ban Overturned, Club Cleared to Sign Players

Richards Bay have confirmed that their latest FIFA-imposed transfer ban has been lifted, allowing them to register new players in the upcoming transfer window. The club had faced restrictions due to an issue involving Tanzanian defender Abdi Banda, marking yet another transfer-related challenge since their promotion to South Africa’s topflight football.

Banda made just eight appearances for the Natal Rich Boyz last season before departing the club. The Tanzanian defender, now playing in his home country, has previously taken legal action against South African clubs for unpaid dues. Notably, Chippa United also faced a FIFA transfer ban after Banda filed a dispute over outstanding payments.
Richards Bay released an official statement confirming the resolution of the matter: “Richards Bay Football Club would like to confirm that the matter between the club and FIFA regarding the registration ban has been lifted. The club is now free to sign any player that is available.”

This decision provides a significant boost to Richards Bay as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the next season. The club’s ability to recruit new talent will be crucial, particularly if they manage to avoid relegation. Furthermore, the financial backing they received at the start of the season could enable them to bring in reinforcements to enhance their competitiveness in the league.
With the transfer ban now behind them, all eyes will be on Richards Bay’s moves in the transfer market as they aim to solidify their position in the top division.
