Orlando Pirates Set to Sign New Wingers as Gilberto’s Future Remains Uncertain

Orlando Pirates are reportedly preparing to bring in new wingers ahead of the next transfer window, with Angolan forward Deivi Miguel Vieira, also known as Gilberto, expected to depart permanently. The Siya crew has learned that the club is open to selling the player once his loan spell at Petro de Luanda concludes.
Gilberto joined the Buccaneers from Petro de Luanda at the start of the current season but struggled to establish himself in the squad. This led to his return to his former club on loan during the last transfer window. Now, Pirates appear willing to part ways with the 24-year-old winger, allowing him to find a team where he can feature more consistently.

According to club insiders, Pirates have already set their sights on reinforcing their wide attacking options. “Since the club is working on bringing in other wingers in the off-season, they are apparently willing to sell Gilberto to any team interested in him. The club thinks that he took time to adjust to the team and that could have affected his performance at the club, but they know he is a good player. However, they are willing to sell him to give him the chance to play more regularly as he is an important part of the Angola national team,” a Siya source revealed.
A second source provided further insight into Petro de Luanda’s stance, suggesting that the Angolan club is interested in securing Gilberto’s services permanently.

“They know him better. They use him better, and they are also interested in keeping him when the loan expires in June. But they have to buy him back because he still has two years remaining on his contract. They are believed to have shown an intention to buy him back,” the second insider explained.
Despite featuring in a handful of games for Pirates, Gilberto’s future remains uncertain. The decision now lies with both the player and the clubs involved—whether he returns to Pirates to fight for his place or commits to Petro de Luanda on a permanent deal.
