Mamelodi Sundowns Set High Price Tag for Malibongwe Khoza Amid European Interest

Mamelodi Sundowns’ highly-rated defender, Malibongwe Khoza, is reportedly attracting significant European interest, with French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes said to be keen on securing his services. The 22-year-old, who has made a strong impression since being promoted to the Sundowns senior team at the start of the current season, is one of South Africa’s brightest defensive prospects.

Khoza’s potential has not gone unnoticed, and according to sources close to both Sundowns and the player, the club has set an ambitious asking price for the young defender. Soccer Laduma has reported that Sundowns is looking to sell Khoza for a figure around R35 million, reflecting his high potential and promising future in football.

“You know every player has their price tag, but it also depends on which club is interested in the player. Since the interest is from France, that’s why the club is believed to be looking at around about R35 million. That would be fair, knowing that he is still young and has a great future ahead of him,” a Siya source revealed.

The asking price is a reflection of Khoza’s rapid rise in South African football. The defender has featured in several Betway Premiership matches this season, showcasing his composure, versatility, and defensive acumen. His performances have made him a standout talent at Sundowns, and with the club’s strong track record in developing top-level players, it’s no surprise that European clubs are taking notice.

In addition to the high asking price, Sundowns is reportedly looking to include a resale clause in any potential deal with Stade Rennes. This clause would ensure that Sundowns would receive a percentage of the transfer fee should Rennes sell Khoza to another European club before a certain age.

“So, it won’t just be the R35 million for the whole deal. They are looking at adding a clause which would give the team a certain percentage if Mali is sold by Rennes to another team within a certain period of time. Most teams do that mainly when it’s a young player, and apparently, Sundowns are also looking at that,” added a second insider.

As interest in Khoza continues to mount, the possibility of the young defender making a move to Europe is becoming increasingly likely. Rennes’ growing interest in Khoza only adds to the speculation surrounding his future, and if Sundowns’ valuation is met, South African football could see another talented player make the leap to the European stage.

With Khoza’s bright future and potential international career, the next few months could be crucial in determining whether one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ rising stars will soon be playing in one of Europe’s top leagues.
