Nabi Vows to Bring Joy to Chiefs Fans Amidst Poor Run

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has reaffirmed his commitment to making Amakhosi fans happy despite the team’s inconsistent performances this season. With frustrations mounting over poor results, the Tunisian tactician insists he understands the expectations of the supporters and remains determined to turn things around.
A Season of Struggles
When Nabi was appointed, many Chiefs fans saw him as the man to restore the club’s lost glory. However, the reality has been far from ideal. Amakhosi have struggled for consistency in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and are at risk of missing out on an MTN8 spot next season. They also suffered an early exit from the Carling Knockout Cup after being eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals.
Now, the focus shifts to the Nedbank Cup, where Chiefs will once again face Sundowns in the semi-final on Sunday. A victory would not only put them one step closer to silverware but also lift the spirits of their frustrated supporters.
Nabi: “The Real Pressure is on the Fans”
Despite the high expectations, Nabi insists he does not feel pressure to win but instead sees it as an obligation to bring joy to the fans.
“The only pressure I have is from the fans. When I am outside, I try to do my best to make them happy. Life here in SA is too expensive, so I need to make them happy to forget that life is expensive,” Nabi told the media.
“When you enjoy football, you forget all your problems. On the 25th [of every month], people have to pay for their houses and rent; that’s pressure. But is losing a game and still receiving a big salary pressure? No! The real pressure is social, where people’s salaries are finished a day after payday, and you need to pay school fees for your child. That’s real pressure,” he added.
Nabi made it clear that while winning the Nedbank Cup would be a great achievement, his focus is on the long-term goal of rebuilding the club and delivering sustained success.
Can Chiefs Overcome Sundowns?
The upcoming Nedbank Cup semi-final will be the fourth meeting between Chiefs and Sundowns this season, with the Brazilians dominating previous encounters. However, Nabi remains optimistic that his side can pull off an upset and keep their trophy hopes alive.
A victory over Sundowns would not only boost morale but also go a long way in proving that Chiefs are on the right path under Nabi’s leadership. The fans will be hoping for a performance that justifies their faith in the Tunisian coach and reignites belief in the club’s future.
